Festivalový koncert Monday 22th May 2017 19:00

Ostrava City Cultural Centre - concert hall

Opening concert
Tribute to 750 years of the foundation of Ostrava

There has always been a big, hot heart beating underneath Ostrava’s rough surface. The town has never been just about mining and steelmaking: great works of art have originated here. Likewise, the town’s walls have encouraged development of a number of talents. The unfairly neglected music composer Rudolf Kubín aptly described the pulse of heart of Ostrava and the rhythm of the industrial town in his symphonic poem “Ostrava.” One of the leading Czech cellists of his generation, Petr Nouzovský will certainly make Bohuslav Martinů’s concert a great experience

  • Leoš Janáček: Sinfonietta
  • Rudolf Kubín: Ostrava, symfonická báseň
  • Bohuslav Martinů: Koncert pro violoncello č. 1

The concert takes place under the auspices of Tomáš Macura, Mayor of the statutory city of Ostrava
